Wang Chengen (1912-2001,Figure 1), a famous Chinese surgeon, born in Zhaotong, Yunnan; He graduated from West China Union University School of Medicine in 1941 and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York. He served as a lecturer in the United Medical College of West China and Qilu University; After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as an associate professor of Lingnan University School of Medicine and South China Medical College, a professor of Sun Yat-sen Medical College, a member of the Medical Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Health, and made outstanding achievements in urology and hepatobiliary surgery. In 1955, he pioneered orthotopic hepatectomy to treat primary liver cancer; In 1983, physiological liver dearterialization and hepatic artery cannulation chemotherapy were used to treat liver cancer, and obtained significant curative effect; His main works include "Surgical Treatment of Primary Liver Cancer" and "Physiological de-arterialization plus 5-FU perfusion of hepatic artery in the treatment of primary liver cancer". Regarding Wang Chengen, at present, only Han Guang and Zhang Yuzhou wrote the introduction published in "Contemporary Chinese Medicine Meta" and other more than 100 words of introduction. Wang Chengen has made important contributions to the development of surgery in New China, and is regarded as one of the founders of hepatobiliary surgery in China. The research and introduction to him are obviously insufficient. On the basis of collecting relevant archives and documents, the author introduces his life and scholarship.
