Now everyone knows that the English name of influenza is influenza, but few people go to verify what the original meaning of influenza is? How did it come about? It is quite interesting to know the origin of this noun. In fact, it was 2,400 years ago that Hippocrates, a famous ancient Greek doctor and later known as the father of medicine, described flu-like symptoms. But the term flu originally came not from Greece but from Italy. In 1658 a "plague" broke out on the Italian peninsula. As many as 60,000 people died overnight, and people panicked at it. They all thought it was a punishment from God or a catastrophe caused by the operation of the planet, so the word "influenza" was used to describe this disease. The Italian word for influenza means devil. People mistakenly assume that this is the devil wreaking havoc. The term has since been used, and the English word for influenza is derived from the Italian word for influenza.
