Expert's Quote: The Outline for Child Development in China (2021-2030) lists "Prevention and Control of Birth Defects" as a national strategy for child and healthy development. In the nervous system, neonatal white matter injury is the most common (the incidence rate is 20% ~50%). Preventing and controlling this kind of disease is the key to improve the quality of our population. At present, premature infants in China rank second in the world, and it is on the rise. Premature infants often cause white matter damage due to immature brain development. Among them, mild white matter injury has a high incidence and easy missed diagnosis, which can lead to poor prognosis such as cognitive and motor abnormalities; However, severe white matter injury can easily develop into cerebral palsy, which brings great damage to children's physical and mental health and family. At present, MRI has become the preferred accurate method for neonatal brain imaging because of its non-invasive and radiation-free advantages. However, how to use MRI to reveal the repair and evolution of neonatal white matter injury, how to use MRI to accurately analyze the dynamic and complex changes of brain structure and function during development, how to use MRI to carry out quantitative and accurate analysis and prognostic evaluation of neonatal white matter injury, and how to realize brain MRI data collection of high-risk infants (especially very premature infants) in a safer, standardized and high-quality way are still challenging and major technical issues in a series of clinical applications of imaging. The results of Professor Yang Jian's team were reviewed by Professor Richard Salvi of the State University of New York at Buffalo in a long article in Radiology, and suggested that the American Safety Management Association should be selected to develop relevant industry guidelines[12]。 In 2021, during the recommendation process of the Soong Ching Ling Pediatric Medicine Award, the achievements of Professor Yang Jian's team were highly praised by experts in the field of pediatrics in China. Professor Bao Xiulan of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the founder of 20 neonatal behavior measurements in China, commented: "The time window, influencing factors, evaluation indicators and brain iron development law of neonatal brain development revealed by this team are of great significance to promote clinical practice and promote the development of related disciplines". Professor Li Xin, head of the pediatric group of the 14th and 15th Chinese Medical Association Radiology Branch and Tianjin Second People's Hospital, commented: "This team has built a clinical and practical brain development evaluation method aiming at the technical difficulties of effectively distinguishing normal and abnormal white matter development; Based on big data, it reveals the changes and outcome rules of common neonatal white matter injury in clinic, which provides a basis for early diagnosis and prognosis evaluation".
Sponsored by Chinese Medical Association and Imaging Technology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, and hosted by Hubei Medical Association, Radiation Technology Branch of Hubei Medical Association, Wuhan Medical Association, Radiation Technology Branch of Wuhan Medical Association, and Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the 31st National Academic Conference on Medical Imaging Technology and the 30th Anniversary Conference of Imaging Technology Branch of Chinese Medical Association were held in Wuhan, Hubei Province from November 9 to 12, 2023.
