Looking back at the development history and current situation of ophthalmology in China in recent years, it has been constantly approaching or even catching up with the world's advanced level in clinical medical technology. However, there are still shortcomings in the fields of original research, new technology and new equipment research and development, and there is still a big gap compared with western countries. Strengthening scientific and technological innovation and developing new ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment technologies with completely independent intellectual property rights are the objective needs and key directions for the future development of ophthalmology in China.
