As we all know, the Compendium of Materia Medica (hereinafter referred to as the Compendium) is a great work. Wang Shizhen called it: "The subtlety of Shi Xing Li, the general code of studying things, the secret talisman of the emperor, and the treasure of the subjects."［1］9-11Ji Yun of the Qing Dynasty even said, "There is no greater success in Gai Ji Materia Medica than this!"［2］On the other hand, Compendium was also criticized by Ming and Qing scholars because of its wide and miscellaneous citations. Huang Yuanyu said: "Li Shizhen of the Ming Dynasty reviewed the Compendium, which quoted the theory of mediocre work and absurdity, mixed with novels, barnyard officials, immortal scriptures and Brahma scriptures. It was ridiculous and absurd, and it was thousands of miles away from the meaning of the writings of the sages!"［3］Chen Xiuyuan also believes: "Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica and the like, miscellaneous collection of opinions, the scriptures are concealed by it, can you still cloud Materia Medica?"［4］
