The Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology (FARO) was initiated by Professor Takashi Nakano of Gunma University in Japan, Professor Makihiro Hiraoka of Kyoto University, Professor Xianshu Gao of Peking University, Professor Ramesh Bbilimagga of India and Professor Soehartati Gondhowiardjo of Indonesia. It was initially discussed by academic Organizations from 11 Asian countries (China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand). The Chinese members are Professor Li Yexiong, Professor Gao Xianshu and Professor Yi Junlin. The meeting elected a five-member Standing Committee to be responsible for the organization and operation of the Asian Radiotherapy Alliance, including Chinese Professor Gao Xianshu. In May 2015, the first FARO Standing Committee was held in Kyoto, Japan.

Tumor hyperthermia has become the fifth major therapy after surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and it is a new and effective means to treat tumors. Not only that, hyperthermia and radiotherapy, chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine can also produce organic complementarity, which can increase patients' sensitivity to chemotherapy, radiotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine, increase the efficacy of tumor treatment, improve patients' quality of life, prolong their lives, and at the same time reduce the adverse reactions caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, so it is called "green therapy" by the international medical community. There are a wide range of countries and regions that carry out cancer hyperthermia in the world, and Japan and China play a leading role in Asia. In the past 20 years, China's hyperthermia industry has developed rapidly, and the number of hyperthermia cases and the number of hyperthermia machines rank first in the world. In the basic and clinical research of hyperthermia, China has also made great progress, especially in gene hyperthermia, systemic thermochemotherapy, microwave and radiofrequency ablation therapy, and high-energy ultrasound focusing, which seems to be leading the world technology trend. In this situation, it is particularly important to standardize the clinical application of tumor hyperthermia and make the cause of hyperthermia flourish and develop healthily.
