The prevalence of epilepsy in China is about 0.7%, and it is estimated that there are about 9 million epileptic patients at present[1]Among them, about 2 million to 3 million patients with drug-refractory epilepsy[2]。 Among them, 5% ~10% of patients with drug-refractory epilepsy can achieve epileptic remission or even terminate seizures through surgery. The purpose of surgical treatment of epilepsy is to apply neurosurgical techniques to terminate epileptic seizures or reduce their frequency and/or degree of seizures, while protecting neurological function to the greatest extent and focusing on improving the quality of life of patients. In view of the low fatality or disability rate of epileptic seizures, the urgency of epilepsy surgery is lower than that of some other neurosurgery diseases, such as tumors and aneurysms, so epilepsy surgery needs to pay more attention to improving the postoperative quality of life[3]。 Preoperative evaluation is a key link in epilepsy surgery, and the postoperative efficacy largely depends on the accurate localization of epileptogenic and functional areas. In 2000, the European Expert Consensus on Preoperative Evaluation of Epilepsy Surgery was published and revised several times[3,4]。 Chinese scholars have also been devoted to the surgical treatment and preoperative evaluation of epilepsy for a long time, but the conditions, concepts and levels of each unit are quite different. Therefore, formulating the consensus of Chinese experts on preoperative evaluation of epilepsy surgery is conducive to standardizing related work, thus improving the overall level of epilepsy surgery in China.
transradial access (TRA) refers to the method of establishing intravascular access by puncturing and catheterizing the radial artery as the target blood vessel. TRA was first reported by Campeau et al. in 1989 and was applied to coronary angiography; In 1993, Kiemeneij et al. successfully implemented TRA percutaneous coronary intervention[1]。 Because TRA has higher safety and patients do not need bed braking after surgery, it can significantly improve patient comfort, reduce bed-related complications and nursing workload, shorten hospital stay, and reduce hospital cost[2]Its application in the field of coronary interventional diagnosis and treatment is becoming more and more extensive. In 2018, the European Society of Cardiology and the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (ESC/EACTS) recommended TRA as the preferred approach for coronary diagnosis and treatment[3]; In 2021, the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association/Association for Cardiovascular Imaging and Intervention Guidelines for Coronary Revascularization also recommended TRA for endovascular treatment of acute coronary syndrome or stable ischemic heart disease[4]。
