With the continuous development of social economy, people's demand for health is increasing day by day, and health management has become the hotspot of people's attention. However, some people still think that the annual routine physical examination is worthless, especially the employees of companies or units, and the annual regular physical examination has become a burden. Are routine physical exams really valuable? A recent article published in an authoritative journalJAMAThe answer was given in a review on the study, which analyzed 32 high-quality studies from the initial search of 2,498 articles to the final search of 32 high-quality articles and found that although routine physical examination is not related to a reduction in mortality, cardiovascular events or cardiovascular disease incidence, routine physical examination can detect and control chronic diseases, promote cancer screening, and reduce psychological stress on patients. Routine physical examinations are associated with increased detection rates of chronic diseases, such as hypertension (50% increase), diabetes (30% increase), and chronic kidney disease (80% increase), compared with no physical examination. When a chronic disease is detected, the examiner can get the corresponding drug treatment, thereby reducing the risk of further aggravation of the condition. At the same time, routine physical examination can also better control the risk factors of cardiovascular disease. In one study, both systolic blood pressure [1.3 mmHg lower (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa)] and total cholesterol (4.6 mg/dl lower) were better controlled in rural adults aged 25 to 74 years after 1 year of routine physical examination than in those who did not. Similarly, acceptance of cancer screening is high among people who are willing to actively undergo routine physical examinations. Such as cervical cancer (81% vs 66%) screening, colorectal cancer (69% vs 60%) and depression screening (87% vs 18%). In addition, the study found that the physical examination form not only did not increase the psychological burden, but also reduced the health worries of physical examiners and improved the happiness of physical examiners. Moreover, according to the physical examination sheet, the physical examiner can better improve his lifestyle. The above findings prove the value of routine physical examination from the perspective of evidence-based medicine, and support the publicity of health management knowledge to more people.
