During radiotherapy of head and neck tumors, the inner ear injury caused by radiation may appear such symptoms as tinnitus, labyrinthitis, vertigo and sensory deafness, thus reducing the quality of life of patients. Therefore, the protection of inner ear in radiotherapy is increasingly emphasized^[1,2]。 However, there are current differences in definitions and dose limitations for the structure of the inner ear^[3,4,5,6]Wherein the cochlea D_mean<45 Gy^[7]and inner ear D_mean<50 Gy^[8]They are two known or predominant limiting conditions, but their connection and dosimetric effects on each substructure of the inner ear are not clear. Therefore, in this study, two methods of cochlear limit and inner ear global limit were used to design and evaluate the dose in IMRT of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the difference of the protective efficacy of these two methods on inner ear and its substructures, and to provide a reference for inner ear protection in nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy.

The 9th Shanghai International Radiation Oncology Conference (SICRO IX) was successfully held in Shanghai on August 11-12, 2017. This conference was sponsored by Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital and Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association, and co-organized by Chinese Cancer Journal, Radiotherapy Professional Committee of China Anti-Cancer Association, Tumor Radiotherapy Branch of Shanghai Medical Association and Breast Cancer Professional Committee of Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association. Professor Liu Taifu is the Honorary Chairman of the Conference, Professor Guo Xiaomao, Professor Zhang Zhen and Professor Yu Xiaoli are the Co-Chairmen of the Conference, and Professor Ma Jinli and Professor Mei Xin are the Executive Chairmen of the Conference. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Yu Xiaoli. Professor Liu Taifu, founder of SICRO, Professor Yu Jinming, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Guo Xiaomao, president of Cancer Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, delivered enthusiastic speeches at the opening ceremony, reviewing the past of radiotherapy in China and looking forward to the future. Professor Yin Weibo, Professor Xu Guozhen and Professor Yu Zihao of Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor He Shaoqin, Professor Zhao Sen and Professor Feng Yan of Cancer Hospital affiliated to Fudan University were invited to attend the meeting. This SICRO conference focuses on breast cancer radiotherapy. More than a dozen top experts in the field of radiotherapy at home and abroad, including academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, former chairman of RTOG Breast Cancer Professional Committee, famous experts in breast radiotherapy in Europe and America, and Chinese physicists who are good at proton therapy, were invited to give keynote speeches. More than 200 radiotherapy colleagues from all over the country attended the conference. The main topics discussed in the conference will be briefly combed to readers.

The 6th National Symposium on Clinical Radiobiology was successfully held in the beautiful spring city of Kunming on July 28-30, 2017. This conference was sponsored by the Radiobiology Group of Radiation Oncology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, and jointly hosted by Yunnan Cancer Hospital/the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, the Cancer Radiotherapy Professional Committee of Yunnan Anti-Cancer Association and the Cancer Radiotherapy Physician Branch of Yunnan Medical Association. Professor LANG Jinyi, Professor Wang Luhua, Professor Tian Ye and Professor Li Wenhui served as the co-chairmen of the conference, and Professor Li Wenhui served as the executive chairman of the conference.
