A 31-year-old male went to a local hospital 20 months ago because of chilling and asthma after catching a cold, but the treatment according to upper respiratory tract infection was ineffective. Then he went to a superior hospital for treatment, and was admitted to the hospital with "bronchial asthma". After symptomatic treatment such as asthma relief, phlegm resolution and anti-inflammation, his symptoms improved and he was discharged. After that, every 3 to 4 months, episodes of asthma suffocation, and the therapeutic effects of relieving asthma, resolving phlegm and anti-inflammation gradually become less obvious. On September 29, 2015, the patient suddenly suffered from aggravated asthma after being cold, cough and yellow phlegm, occasionally with a small amount of blood in the phlegm, fever and fatigue, and came to the hospital for treatment. Admission physical examination: body temperature 38.1℃, pulse 108 beats/min, breathing 22 beats/min. The breathing sounds of both lungs are thick, and small wet rales can be heard scattered. Arterial blood gas analysis: pH 7.50, PO₂53.0 mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa), PCO₂35.0 mmHg, SpO₂90%。 Blood routine: white blood cells 24.08×10⁹/L, % eosinophils 41.9%, absolute eosinophils 10.09×10⁹/L, the percentage of neutrophils was 40.9%. Other tests were negative.

The selection of outstanding papers of Academician Liu Yuqing is sponsored by the editorial department of this journal, named after Professor Liu Yuqing, the only academician in radiology in China. At present, it has been held for four sessions, aiming at selecting and commending outstanding scientific research papers published in our journal.
